China and Australia will play a major policing and security role in the Solomon Islands leading up to and during next month’s Joint-Elections.
Police commissioner Mostyn Mangau told local media today.
He acknowledged and lauded the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and China Police Liaison Team (CLPT ) as major supporting partners who are already doing ground training for local police in preparations towards the elections.
In addition, partner police officers from the Pacific Islands including New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Fiji will also here support.
“Our partners are supporting the government machinery to ensure elections are delivered to the people,” Mangau said.

“We also have our arrangement with Papua New Guinea who are now on their way to Honiara to support during the elections.”
Mangau said a number of partner police officers will be deployed to provincial centers to help local officers.
