The British government’ has assured Solomon Islands of its continuous support in areas of common interest.
United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak made the assurance in a congratulatory note through the British High Commissioner to Solomon Islands His Excellency Thomas Edward Coward, to Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele this week.
In response Prime Minister Manele revealed the government’s top priorities, are expanding the economic base of the country to create more job opportunities.
He highlighted more attention will be on the productive sector while education and health remain top priorities as well.
PM Manele also added, security is another top priority.
“The plan in place is to increase the number of the members of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force from the current 1,500 to 3,000 in the next three years, highlighting the force should be accounted for 5000 men and women in uniform by 2030.
The Prime Minister made an open invitation to the British government to assist in various policy priorities demonstrates a willingness to collaborate and strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
