Solomon Islands National University (SINU) Vice Chancellor Dr Transform Aqorau has reminded graduating students of the institution, to become torchbearers of tomorrow.

When delivering his speech during the 2024 graduation ceremony today at the Maranata Hall, Aqorau said education is the cornerstone upon which the aspirations of individuals and the destiny of nations are built.

He said it is a lifelong journey that does not end with the attainment of a degree but begins anew each day.

“The knowledge you have acquired here is the foundation upon which you will construct your future. It is not merely a tool but a powerful force that empowers you to contribute meaningfully to your communities and to leave an indelible mark on the world.”

Aqorau reminded the students that their time at SINU has prepared them not just for a career, but for a life of purpose and impact.

“Be bold in your dreams, unwavering in your principles, and compassionate in your actions.

“The world is waiting for your brilliance, your creativity, and your leadership.”

He further advised that as graduates, they stand at the threshold of a new era, where the future is a canvas waiting for their brushstrokes.

“The knowledge and skills you have honed within these walls are the tools with which you will carve out the future—not only for yourselves but for your communities and our nation.

“But with these tools comes a profound responsibility. It is not enough to wield knowledge for personal gain; true leadership demands that you use your education to uplift, inspire, and drive meaningful change.

“The world you step into is one of rapid transformation, a world that hungers for new ideas and bold solutions. In this world, you must be more than just participants—you must be the architects of progress, the torchbearers of a brighter tomorrow.”

Aqorau reminded the students that their work has the power to shape the destiny of the nation.

“Do not be afraid to challenge the status quo, to innovate, and to lead with integrity.”

He then challenged the students to be bold in taking on what lies ahead of them,

“As you leave the familiar embrace of this university and step boldly into the world, know that you carry within you the seeds of greatness.

“The path ahead may be filled with uncertainties, but it is also illuminated by boundless possibilities.

“Approach this journey with courage, determination, and an unwavering belief in your power to effect change.

“The Solomon Islands is counting on your brilliance, your leadership, and your vision.

“Remember that you have been equipped not only with knowledge but with the capacity to inspire, to innovate, and to lead with integrity. The future, with all its challenges and opportunities, is yours to shape. Go forth with confidence, knowing that you are prepared to make a difference.”
