 Solomon Islands will attend the World Government Summit (WGS) for the first time since its inception in 2013, taking place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from February 11th to 13th.

Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele will attend the 12th edition of the World Government Summit (WGS) following an invitation from His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Press Secretariat Office, Prime Minister Manele will join world leaders from government, international organizations, and the private sector.

Manele will engage in bilateral meetings with other leaders and heads of international organizations and participate in high-level discussions.

He will also join a panel discussion on the future of climate change and crisis mitigation.

The statement highlighted that the summit will focus on six key areas: governance and accountability; financing for the future and the global economy; climate crisis mitigation and resilient cities; human-centric futures and capacity building; global health transformation; and emerging frontiers. Additionally, there will be forums on topics like the future of mobility, artificial intelligence, government services, future education, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in action.

The summit provides a unique platform where world Leaders convene to discuss, strategize, and share their experiences of good practices and where lessons can be learned, seek solutions to address global issues and challenges, and undertake transformational reforms aimed at achieving sustainable development, progress, and prosperity for all countries.

Prime Minister Manele and his delegation leave for Dubai this Friday and return on 16th February.
