Hundreds of people turned up during the ‘CARE’ coalition launch in Noro town, Western Province, expressing the need for a change of government in the country.

People around the west new Georgia Vonavona flooded the Noro Community Centre Hall since 9 am on a busy Friday to witness the launch and listen to speeches.

Former MP for West Are’Are John Maneniaru said it is time for a change of government and leadership in the Solomon Islands.

“Enough is enough,” Maneniaru urged the cheering crowd.

Maneniaru said Solomon Islands over the past 5 years was led by a government that has neglected and turned a blind eye on its own people.

He said Solomon Islands must wake up to the reality that nothing will change under the same status quo.

“We had had a government that is deaf and blind to the issues affecting our own people,” he said.

CARE coalition leader Matthew Wale said the change the country needs will only happen if voters do the right thing and vote the right people come April 17th.

Wale said Our Party under the caretaker DCGA government has nothing to offer for this country.

He said April 17th is the time people can make the change and vote them out of office.

“We have a government that is not controlled by Solomon Islanders and does not prioritise its own people.

“They said we would not achieve our flagship policies because it’s unrealistic.

“But the truth is it is unrealistic to them and they cannot do it, they do not know how to do it because they prioritise self-interest over national interest,” he said.

Men and women that attended the launching have agreed that it is time to move out from the current status quo.

Women also shared their desire to see change and the struggles they have with the high cost of living, expensive school fees and less opportunities for rural people to improve their standard of living.

The CARE coalition team will launch in Gizo on Monday 4th and then to Seghe on Tuesday 5th.
