In Adelaide

Junior David and Micah Lea’alafa helped their respective clubs to victories over the weekend in the
Football South Australia (SA) competitions in Adelaide.

David played in his usual right wing back for the entire 90 minutes in Croydon FC’s 2-0 win over
Para Hills Knights on Saturday in the SA National Premier League (NPL). Croydon also known as the
Polonia boys had an advantage after Lawand Hasan of Para Hills Knights was sent off in the 10 th
minute.

Vanuatu international Jason Thomas came into field in the 78 th minute for the Knights but the score-
line remained 2-0 until the final whistle in favour of Croydon FC.

Lea’alafa assisted his club Vipers FC to a 2-1 victory over South Adelaide in the SA State League
One round five match on Saturday. He started for the Vipers in their victorious round five match
before he was substituted in the 81 st minute.

Javin Wae whose club Campbelltown City faced Adelaide Comets last Friday in the SA NPL level
won 1-0. Wae is recovering from an injury and did not feature for his club in the past couple of
weekends.

Meanwhile William Komasi and Rovu Boyers despite commanding performances for their respective
clubs fell short of glory in round five of the SA State League One matches on the weekend.

Komasi played the entire 90 minutes for his club Adelaide Cobras when teammate Nick Harpas
scored one goal against leaders Sturt Lions on Saturday in a 2-1 defeat. The Lion’s goalkeeper was
red carded in the 87th minute, however it wasn’t enough for Cobras to capitalize against the 10 men
Lions.

“It was a heartbreaking 2-1 loss for our senior men this week. The boys played strong, gave it their
all—it just wasn’t their day,” Cobras stated in their official social media page on Saturday.

Boyers’ club West Adelaide gave away its early lead against Salisbury United yesterday (Sunday 6 th
April) to be defeated 2-1 in another SA State League One round five match.

The Solomon Islands national midfielder started for the Hellas and played a crucial role in the lead up
to Yuya Kato’s goal in the 39 th minute. Operating in the left wing, Boyers collected the ball in the
wings from his left defender, slipped the ball past two Salisbury players to Ryan Wood whose assist
to Kato resulted in the goal.

Both Boyers and Wood were replaced in the 60th minute when the Hellas were leading 1-0. However West Adelaide switched off towards the end of the match which resulted in the two goals from Salisbury – the equalising goal in the 88 th minute and the winner by substitute Samuel Adejo in extra time.

David and Wae are playing in the SA NPL level with their respective clubs whilst Lea’alafa, Komasi
and Boyers are playing in the SA State League One – all organised by Football South Australia.

There are also five Ni-Vanuatu players playing in the Football South Australia competition – two in
the SA NPL level and three in SA State League Two level.

Jason Thomas is playing for Para Hills Knights who came in as substitute on Saturday in the second
half against Croydon FC, featuring Solomon Islander David Junior. Jared Clark, a defender for FK
Beograd with a Ni-Vanuatu descent is the other player for the Melanesian neighbours playing in the
SA NPL level.

Another Solomon Islander Raphael Lea’i who is playing for Wollongong Wolves in the New South
Wales (NSW) NPL, featured for his club in round nine match against Manly United last night
(Sunday 6 th April) where the Wolves suffered a 6-0 defeat.
