Honiara is ready to welcome regional leaders for the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting (PIFLM) next week, Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele confirmed on Wednesday.

Speaking at a press conference, the Prime Minister said preparations are well advanced for the event, which will be held under the theme “Iumi Tugeda: Act Now for an Integrated Blue Pacific Continent.”

He also acknowledged the work of the National Organising Committee and its sub-committees in ensuring Solomon Islands is prepared to host the region.

“All 18 Forum members have registered their delegations.

“Seventeen leaders will attend in person, while Samoa will be represented by its Secretary of Foreign Affairs as they form their new government following elections,” Prime Minister Manele said.

The programme will feature plenary and retreat sessions, as well as engagements with CROP agencies, the private sector, civil society, and associate members.

The Prime Minister urged Solomon Islanders, particularly those in Honiara, Munda, and Noro, to extend traditional hospitality to the visitors.

“The world will be watching, and this is our opportunity to showcase the very best of our Happy Isles,” he added.

Delegates have already begun arriving in the country ahead of the Forum.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also extended his gratitude to businesses, partners, and the wider community who are playing a vital role in preparations.

He acknowledged the contributions of Solomon Telekom, RICOH Printing, South Pacific Oil, Solomon Airlines, and Solomon Ports, noting that their partnership reflects the importance of working together as a nation.

He further expressed appreciation for the support of bilateral and multilateral partners, describing their assistance as invaluable to the successful hosting of the Forum.

The Prime Minister also thanked the many Solomon Islanders involved with the National Organising Committee.

“Your commitment, energy, and unity will ensure the success of this Forum and showcase to the region the strength of our people,” he said.

He emphasised that these partnerships and community efforts demonstrate the value of collaboration, both nationally and regionally, and reaffirm Solomon Islands’ readiness to host the Forum.
