Two South Australia (SA) Football National Premier League (NPL) clubs, each hosting a Solomon
Islands soccer player face off in round six of SA NPL on Saturday 12 th April in Adelaide.
Croydon FC which has Junior David playing for them will host Javin Wae’s Campelltown City at the
Regency Park, 2.30pm local time on Saturday.
While David has been a starter for Croydon FC in recent rounds, Wae needs to be given the greenlight
by the physio before he plays as he was nursing an injury and did not feature for Campbelltown in
their last two outings.
David and Wae are playing in the SA NPL level whilst William Komasi, Micah Lea’alafa and Rovu
Boyers are playing in the SA State League One – all based in Adelaide city, the capital of South
Australia.
Another Solomon Islander Raphael Lea’i plays in the New South Wales (NSW) Football NPL with
Wollongong Wolves, a club from Wollongong city, located closer to Sydney.

The SA State League One round six matches continue Saturday 12 th April here in Adelaide city where
Komasi’s club Adelaide Cobras will take on Cumberland United 3pm local time at the Weigall Oval
Main.
Another SA State League One round six fixture will feature Micah Lea’alafa with his Adelaide Vipers
club against Fulham United on Saturday afternoon at the West Beach Parks Football Centre.
Boyers and his West Adelaide Hellas are also playing on Saturday against SA State League One
leaders Sturt Lions. The Hellas have dropped into fifth place on the table following their 2-1 defeat to
Salisbury United last Sunday.
Meanwhile Solomon Islands national soccer striker Lea’i scored his fourth goal for Wollongong
Wolves on Wednesday 9 th April in a 5-0 win against Randwick City in a round four preliminary
rounds of the NSW Hahn Australia and Federation Cup.
He came in at the start of the second half and made an impact five minutes later, when he blasted
home a trademark left footer in the 50 th minute to give his side a 2-0 advantage. Wolves were already
leading 1-0 before the half-time break.
Wolves midfielder Liam Ball had collected the ball just outside the box, made a fake body move
forward, poke the ball back before squaring it to Lachlan Scott who places it into the box to be met by
an on-running Lea’i. The Solomon Islander controlled the ball with a right foot touch forward before
unleashing his powerful left to send the ball past Randwick City keeper Rory Carr.
Lea’i who wears the number 77 jersey for the Wolves replaced teammate Damon Gray in the second
half and made an impact in Wolves’ qualification to the next round of the NSW Hahn Australia and
Federation Cup competition.
The victory boosts the Wolves confidence following their round nine defeat of 0-6 to Manly United
last Sunday as they prepare to take on Sutherland Sharks in the NSW NPL round 10 this Sunday 13 th
April 2025.
Lea’i (NSW NPL) with David and Wae in the SA NPL are the three Solomon Islanders playing in the
Australia Football NPL level. The other three players – Komasi, Lea’alafa and Boyers are playing in
the SA State League One level.
The six national soccer players’ move to Australia was made possible by a partnership between
Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) and the Australian High Commission in Honiara; as part
of the Solomon Islands – Australia Partnership program to develop more Pacific football superstars,
inspire the next generation, and strengthen Australia’s close connections with Solomon Islands.
