The Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) is set to announce the appointment of political appointees following this week’s government caucus meeting.
Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele told journalists in a recent media conference in Honiara.
“The government will start appointing political appointees after the caucus meeting.” Manele said.
He also announced that Dr. Jimmie Rodgers will continue in his role as Secretary to the Prime Minister and Ronald Fugui has been re-appointed as Private Secretary to the Prime Minister.
Manele added Cabinet will convene ts first meeting Thursday this week.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the upcoming agenda includes the parliamentary meeting on Friday, April 17th, as declared by Governor General Sir David Vunagi in the Extraordinary Gazette released earlier this week.
He emphasized that during the parliamentary meeting, Members will take oaths before proceeding with the election of the Speaker and the deputy Speaker of Parliament.\
Manele mentioned his intention to propose a motion for a special adjournment of parliament to reconvene in June, considering that the term of the Governor General in office will end in early July 2024.
