The Solomon Islands National Hosting Authority today launched the Sol2023 Baton Relay – commencing a thrilling 100-day journey.
The relay kicked off its exciting route at the National Stadium, making its way to Henderson Airport before setting off for Isabel Province this afternoon.
This Baton Relay is set to traverse all provinces, bringing its spirit to villages across the country.
The distinguished Baton unveiling ceremony featured Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and Chinese Ambassador to Solomon Islands, Li Ming.

“The Baton will make its triumphant return to the National Stadium to mark the commencement of the Pacific Games,” Sogavare said at today’s launching event.
“Throughout these 100 days, I will personally oversee the National Hosting Authority Chair and the NHA board, ensuring that any delays caused by procurement processes do not jeopardize the success of the Pacific Games 2023,” he added with a stern warning.
Solomon Airlines has been entrusted with the crucial task of facilitating the Baton relay team as they tour the provinces.

Meanwhile, a significant event scheduled for next week is the official handover of the National Stadium and sporting facilities by CCECC to the Government and the NHA.
The Pacific Games 2023 is scheduled to start on 19 November 2023, and come to a grand close on 2 December 2023.
