In an exciting display of unity and pride, the nation’s young athletes, aged 14 to 35, who will proudly represent Solomon Islands in the upcoming 2023 Pacific Games, came together for a spirited march this morning.
Team Solomon walked from Honiara City Council grounds to the SMI grounds, symbolizing the nation’s solidarity as ‘One Nation, One Team Solomon for the Pacific Games’.

With less than three weeks to go to the games, the excitement is notable.
The 2023 Pacific Games will play host to 5,000 athletes from 24 nations who will converge in Honiara from November 19 to December 2 to compete in 24 different sports.
This monumental event marks one of the largest international gatherings our nation has hosted.
Governor General Sir David Vunagi, senior government officials, sports organizations officials were all in attendance, gracing the event with their presence.
“Today we support you with all our best wishes and as a nation, we expect nothing less than gold medals,” Sir David told the athletes.

The Governor General also launched the Team Solomons’ supporters T-shirt.
As the national anthem echoed through the air, it served as a moving reminder of the nation’s unity.
“This is a proud moment for every citizen of our beloved Solomon Islands. Together, we embrace the challenges, celebrate our diversity, and stand united as we prepare to make our mark on the global sporting stage,” Sir Vunagi added.
