Solomon Islands will turn 47th this year after the island nation gained its independence from British rule on 7 July 1978.
And Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele unveiled the Independence Anniversary Theme yesterday, as the country counts down to the event on July 7.
“Unity and Stability for Transformation and Prosperity” has been chosen as the 47th Independence Anniversary Day theme.
Manele said the theme reflects the Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT’s) strategic direction and commitment to an inclusive, stable, and forward-looking development.
This aligns with GNUT’s four key policy pillars, which include economic transformation, infrastructure development, unity and stability, and human capital development.
“Together, these pillars provide the foundation for rebuilding and progressing the Solomon Islands,” he said.
He further announced that the revived National Trade Fair set for the first week of July will be a key feature leading up to the Independence Day celebration.
The week-long trade fair will allow local businesses and companies to showcase their products and services.
This event is designed to promote local products, businesses, innovations, and culture.
The 2025 Annual National Trade Fair (2025ANTF) will be celebrated on the theme: “Trade for Transformation – Rebuilding Our Happy Isles.”
The event marks the first national trade fair (show) since 2014, signaling the revival of a major platform for promoting innovation, showcasing local products, and connecting Solomon Islanders across all sectors of commerce, culture, and creativity.
