The Australian High Commission has opened a new round of the Solomon Islands–Australia Community Partnerships.

The Solomon Islands-Australia Community Partnerships support community-led projects to improve living standards through small-scale community projects like staff houses, toilet blocks, community water tanks, solar power for community infrastructure, and community halls.

“Community Partnerships funding is available to community groups across Solomon Islands, and we encourage jointly funded projects with Members of Parliament,” a statement from the Australian High Commission said.

In 2024, Australia funded a record 100 community level projects across every province of Solomon Islands, representing more than SBD$23.62 million in direct funding to local hardware and transport businesses.

Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, Rod Hilton, said Australia is committed to its partnership with Solomon Islands.

“We are proud to support communities across Solomon Islands to deliver small-scale community infrastructure projects,” Hilton said.

“We’re also proud to support Solomon Islands’ businesses and jobs directly – buying hardware materials and shipping services for these projects,” he added.

The Australian High Commission is accepting applications until Sunday 23 March 2025.
