The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has received a boost today as Australian High Commission officials handed over vital information and communications technology (ICT) equipment.

The equipment, comprising six new computers and three printers, was provided as part of the Solomon Islands Australia Partnership for Justice.

This initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of justice sector agencies and assist the Solomon Islands Government in improving law and order across the country. The ICT equipment will be utilized in provincial offices located in Gizo, Kirakira, and Auki, enhancing the ODPP’s ability to deliver an independent, fair, and effective prosecution service.

Expressing gratitude for the support, Mr. Andrew Kelesi, the Director of Public Prosecutions, thanked the government and people of Australia for their ongoing generosity.

“On behalf of the ODPP Solomon Islands, I wish to thank the government and the people of Australia for their generosity in their ongoing support to the ODPP and the justice sector. The assistance is important but timely as well. The computers and the printers will enhance the ODPP’s service to the people of Malaita, Makira and Western province in their pursuit for justice”.

She reaffirmed Australia’s commitment as Solomon Islands’ primary partner and its support for justice sector agencies.

“A strong justice sector underpins stability, security and development, which is why Australia is Solomon Islands number one partner and is supporting Solomon Islands justice sector agencies through our program”.

Lailey expressed the crucial role of public prosecutors in the justice system and pride in supporting Mr. Andrew Kelesi and his team with new equipment to continue their important work, including ensuring access to justice in the provinces.
