International superstar and Jamaican dancehall reggae artist, Busy Signal is set to tour the Solomon Islands capital, Honiara to headline the 1st Wan Kadere Independence Day Festival 2025 on Saturday 12 July, at the DC Park, east of Honiara.
The event was co-hosted by the Solutions International (SI) Group together with the Kadere Party of Solomon Islands and the Cowboys Bar & Grill.
Reanno Devon Gordon, 46 was born in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica and has been living in areas in West and East Kingston such as Tivoli Gardens, Kingston, Papine, and Spanish Town.
Known as one of the artists leading the contemporary dancehall movement, Busy Signal has been a large part of the scene since 2003, and released his debut single “Step Out” in 2005.
Speaking in a press conference in Honiara today, to officially announce the involvement of the artist is Deputy General Director of SI Group, Mr Jean Lesly Benoit.
“It is a great honor and pleasure for me to be here today to announce the official launching of the 1st Wan Kadere Independence Festival featuring international superstar, Busy Signal.
Mr Benoit added, many other local artists will also be participating, including DJs, dancers, and comedians – it’s a huge festival.
According to Mr Benoit, the idea to bring an international act to Honiara was discussed a few months ago with Cowboys Grill, as part of a push for the recognition of music tourism.
“I think back in March we were talking about this. We wanted to bring international music tourism into the Solomon Islands, and we spoke for a while.
“We kept going back and forth. We were talking about some other artists until we finally settled, about a month and a half ago on Busy Signal. We felt like this is something that the people deserve.
“That’s why we’re doing this completely free. There is no commercial activity happening with this,” he said.
The SI Group official also explains that they are sponsoring this because the SI Group really sees the future of music tourism. The idea was also supported by a great group of Solomon Islanders who have the same vision, that see that tourism and music is the way to go.
He said the organisers are so excited and so is the artist, Busy Signal, who is already excited to be in the capital of the Solomon Islands.
“The artist, Busy Signal, is excited to be here. I spoke to him again last night.
“He’s on tour, and he can’t wait to arrive,” Mr Benoit told local Journalist in the press conference.
Benoit also confirmed that Busy Signal will be travelling to the Solomon Islands with his full band.
“He’s coming with his full band, backup singers. So it’s a complete, it’s not a backup track show.
“It’s a full band.”
