JDS Prepares for Second intake

The Japan-funded Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) is gearing up for its second intake, with strategic preparations underway to attract high-caliber applicants across Solomon Islands.

On July 31st, the JDS Operating Committee convened to establish the recruitment and selection processes for the upcoming cohort. The committee comprises representatives from the Ministry of National Planning and Development Cooperation (MNPDC), the Ministry of Public Service (MPS), the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, the Embassy of Japan, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

During the meeting, members reviewed key achievements, shared lessons learned from the first batch, and agreed on strategies to streamline the application process. The goals for the next intake include dispatching five talented professionals and increasing the number of female applicants. The committee also emphasized the importance of proactive outreach, including promotional activities and informational sessions, to ensure greater awareness and participation.

To kick-start these efforts, the Ministry of National Planning and Development Cooperation, in collaboration with the project team, is co-organizing a promotion seminar scheduled for this week. Human Resource Managers from various ministries are being invited to participate, and a series of informational sessions for prospective applicants will follow in the coming weeks.

This initiative continues to promote the development of skilled professionals across Solomon Islands, fostering national growth and regional cooperation through targeted educational opportunities funded by Japan.
