Maelanga Clarifies Position on False Allegations Involving Former Combatants

The Leader of the Independent Members in Parliament, Honourable Dn Manasseh Maelanga
has issued an official statement calling on individuals to refrain from making any reference to
him or the Office he represents in relation to the alleged involvement of former combatants in
any purported Motion of No Confidence.

This clarification follows a series of misleading social media posts and public comments falsely
claiming that the Independent Group (and Opposition) are engaging former combatants to
influence or heighten the purported Motion of No Confidence.

“I wish to make it absolutely clear to the public that neither I nor the Office I represent are, in
any way, involved or in collusion with any ex-combatants to dethrone the ruling government,”
the Leader stated.

“It is not within my interest to do so, we have a democratic processes in place that can rightfully be employed.”

The Leader further questioned whether such claims are yet another tactic used by the PMs
advisor’s within the ruling government to manipulate public emotions or spread propaganda,
misinformation, and divisive rhetoric to control narratives and divert attention from real
national issues.

“I will be surprised if the PMs advisory includes such sentiments from any individual or groups”.

The Leader further urged, “It is good to concentrate on the real issues affecting the country”.
