Julian Maka’a, the former Premier of Makira Ulawa Province, has committed to continuing the province’s ongoing infrastructure development initiatives initiated during his previous tenure.

Securing his Provincial Government Seat for Ward 10, Central Bauro in the latest election, Maka’a reiterated the need for infrastructure development in fostering economic growth within the province.

“Our past administration firmly believed that advancing infrastructure is paramount to catalyzing economic progress. Through collaborative efforts with the national government, we believe to achieve  sustainable and economic development for Makira Ulawa towards,” Maka’a said.

During his previous term, significant infrastructure projects were initiated in collaboration with the national government and various development partners.

These include a ramp and wharf development, proposed upgrades to the East and West Makira regions, including the construction of bridges over the Rawo and Wairaha rivers, with engineering works currently in progress.

“Our next big projects include partnering with development partners to pave the airport’s runway, negotiating with local communities to extend the Kirakira road to the remote Makira weather coast via an inland route, and constructing a bridge over the Warihito River to connect the isolated Wainoni area – these initiatives are our long-term vision,” Maka’a affirmed.

He reiterated his commitment to seeing ongoing projects to fruition, if he is given a chance to lead the government in a second term.

“We have already initiated discussions with development partners to realize these transformative infrastructure projects.

“By enhancing connectivity to our remote regions, we lay the foundation for sustainable provincial economic growth,” Maka’a added.

Premier Maka’a’s re-election to office as the Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) for Ward 10 signals a renewed mandate to drive forward the infrastructure agenda for Makira Ulawa Province.
