The Solomon Islands–Australia Community Partnerships program today opened its first grant application round for 2026, with community groups across the country invited to apply for funding.
The program, administered by the Australian High Commission in Solomon Islands, supports community-led projects aimed at improving the lives of Solomon Islanders and strengthening local infrastructure.
Eligible projects include small-scale initiatives such as staff housing, toilet blocks, community water tanks, solar power installations for public facilities, and the construction of community halls.
Community Partnerships funding is available nationwide, and the Australian High Commission has encouraged community groups to work in partnership with Members of Parliament through jointly funded projects.
Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Jeff Roach, said Australia remains committed to supporting communities across the country through practical, locally driven development.
“Australia is proud to support communities all across the country with life-changing small-scale community infrastructure projects, in partnership with the leaders and government of Solomon Islands,” Mr Roach said.
“These projects support local businesses and jobs directly. All hardware materials and shipping services used to deliver new community infrastructure are purchased locally.”
In 2025, Australia funded a record 108 community projects across every province in Solomon Islands, representing more than SBD 25.4 million in direct funding to local businesses involved in delivering the projects.
Australia has committed to funding 100 community projects in 2026, and to maintain this level of support in the years ahead.
The Australian High Commission is accepting applications until Sunday 7 March 2026.
