Opposition dismisses rumours of members crossing over to great coalition

The Official Parliamentary Opposition has firmly rejected rumors suggesting several of its members are planning to defect to the governing GREAT Coalition.

In a statement released today, the Opposition dismissed the claims as “baseless political speculation” intended to manufacture instability and mislead the public.

“The Official Opposition remains mature, intact, united, and firmly knitted as a parliamentary group,” the statement read.

“Our members will not be swayed, enticed, or pressured simply for the sake of making up numbers.”

The Opposition emphasized that its MPs remain focused on their legislative mandates, prioritizing public accountability and national interests over political maneuvers.

Addressing growing speculation on social media and within political circles, the leadership urged citizens to remain calm and dismiss unverified reports during what it described as a time of ongoing political challenge.

“We urge Solomon Islanders not to be misled by unverified claims,” the statement added, reiterating that the faction’s focus remains squarely on scrutinizing government policy and advocating for local development priorities.
