Unearthing stories that matters

OUR Party hopes to secure 2nd term in office

By Ronald Toito’ona

OUR Party is looking forward to leading the country again after the April 17 national elections, care-taker Deputy Prime Minister, and former MP for East Malaita, Manasseh Maelanga says.

Maelanga stated this at the launch of the OUR Party manifesto in Honiara, yesterday.

“OUR Party is your party,” he told supporters at the gathering.

“OUR Party is Solomon Islands’ party, for the people of Solomon Islands,” he added, much to the enchantment of the crowd that attended the event.

Maelanga said OUR Party brings unity and that it will lead and bring all Solomon Islanders together as one people and one nation.

“We need unity going to the 2024 elections,” Maelanga said.

OUR Party parliamentary wing leader and care- taker Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare spoke highly of his party.

He then alluded to the launching of the party’s manifesto as turning from the past and looking into the future.

Sogavare briefly outlined the manifesto saying it provides the vision, beliefs, guiding principles and core policy priorities- “…as we seek the mandate of the people of Solomon Islands in the upcoming April 2024 National General Election…” with the hope to form the next executive government.
