Solomon Islands Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele has publicly acknowledged the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and Members of Parliament from the Opposition and Independent groups for their efforts in scrutinising the country’s 2026 national budget.
Speaking in Parliament today, Mr Manele moved a special motion to adjourn the sitting until Monday, 1 December 2025, allowing additional time for MPs to review the PAC’s findings before the formal debate on the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
The PAC has been conducting hearings throughout the past week, with its final session scheduled for tomorrow.
The Prime Minister commended the committee’s leadership and the constructive contributions from MPs across political lines.
“Adjourning Parliament will give all of us sufficient time to consider the recommendations in the PAC report, so that we can adequately respond during the Appropriation Bill debate or when it reaches the Committee of the Whole House,” Mr Manele said.
The Prime Minister also extended his appreciation to government officials and parliamentary staff who have supported the preparation of the 2026 Budget.
Parliament is scheduled to reconvene on Monday, 1 December 2025.
