Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele will be speaking on the 8th Business Excellence Award scheduled to take place on 16th of this month at Aquatic Centre.
This was confirmed when officials and board members from SICCI paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister this week.
“Preparation for the 8th Business Excellence Award is on the right track,” a statement from SICCI said.
“More than 400 participants from various businesses, affiliate organization, diplomatic offices, government ministries and private sector are expected to be part of the event,” it added.
The statement said the Committee of 8th Business Excellence Award is anticipating to deliver a best event for those who attend the night.
“One of the highlights will be; the Prime Minister delivering the speech and also handing over the Prime Minister Business Award of the year.”
The Business Excellence Awards (BEAs) is the Chamber’s most prominent awards event that happens bi-annually every November with an open participation for all businesses and organizations in the Solomon Islands.
The BEA was initiated in 2013 with the support of the Solomon Islands Government and has quickly grown popular within the business community, attracting increased submissions over the years.
The awards ceremony gives the perfect platform for business owners to take a fresh look at their operation and have it assessed by experts.
The BEAs offer unparalleled networking opportunities and the chance to reinforce credibility, pursue new ventures and build profiles.
Overall, it is an occasion for celebrating success, sharing stories and inspiring others.
The theme of 8th BEA is “Navigating Business Through a Challenging Landscape”.
Meanwhile, SICCI said it shared with Manele initiatives that would encourage the private sector to grow during their courtesy call this week.
“One of the agenda highlighted was to establish greater partnership with both domestic and regional partners.
“SICCI emphasize the need to bring the MSG trade agreements closer to the private sector players adding it can happen through the initiative shared by SICCI CEO on having an MSG Business and Investment forum alongside the MSG Ministers meetings.
“SICCI believes that actively engaging regional private sector players will enable opportunities, business relationship and trade facilitation.
“SICCI acknowledge the opportunities of engagement with Government on key business constraints.
“This gives SICCI the space to share on challenges faced by our private sector and together, we work to improve it, we are driving our private sector”.
SICCI adds that the country’s private sector needs review and reforms in legislations and policy so that it reduces constraints and open opportunity for doing business in Solomon Islands.
In his response, Manele supports the initiative and at the same time encourages SICCI to work in close collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade.
He acknowledged that SICCI has played a vital role in coordinating activities, roundtable discussions and regional engagements in the private sector space.
Prime Minister Manele said he is pleased at SICCI’s courtesy visit to Director General of MSG Head Office in Vanuatu by SICCI CEO this month.
“The private sector is the engine of growth.
“The Government will work on reviews and amendments of the key bills and legislations, so that we can grow our private sector base to create more jobs and have a strong private sector”.
