Solomon Islands Independent MPs Deny Involvement in Rumoured No-Confidence Motion

The Office of the Independent Members of Parliament in the Solomon Islands has clarified its position amid recent reports of a potential Motion of No Confidence against Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele.

In a statement released today, the Office emphasized that it has “no involvement in the alleged Motion of No Confidence recently mentioned by the Prime Minister” and confirmed that “no such motion has been endorsed or lodged by any Independent Member of Parliament.”

“The Prime Minister has justified his Cabinet reshuffle as a step toward stability,” the statement said, “yet if the so-called motion exists only in speculation, then it is a motion he has unwittingly raised against himself.”

The Independent Office also stressed its commitment to good governance.

“We distance ourselves from any recent political maneuvering and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, and due parliamentary process.”
