Solomon Islands NPF Hands Over SBD$160 Million Apartment To Australian High Commission

The National Provident Fund (NPF), has handed over a new apartment complex worth over SBD$160 million to the Australian High Commission this afternoon.

The modern facility will house Australian High Commission diplomatic staff and their families, marking a significant investment partnership between the Solomon Islands and Australia.

Australian High Commissioner Jeffrey Roach thanked the Solomon Islands Government and NPF for the development, describing it as a valuable addition to the diplomatic community’s accommodation.

Chairman of the NPF Board, Dr. Jimmy Rogers said the lease agreement is a milestone NPF members should take pride in, affirming that the Australian Government’s commitment demonstrates confidence in local investment.

“We are proud to provide a safe and comfortable place for Australian government staff to live and work in our country,” Dr. Rogers said.

The lease agreement, signed in June 2023, grants the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) tenancy for at least 11 years, with a gross annual rental value of SBD$6.48 million (approximately SBD$540,000 per month)
