Solomon Islands Member of Parliament for Northwest Guadalcanal and Minister for Public Service, Hon. Francis Sade, has donated a new Toyota Hilux to the Marara Area Health Centre (AHC).
The vehicle, handed over on Monday, is expected to significantly improve the clinic’s ability to reach remote areas and deliver essential health services to thousands of people across Northwest and West Guadalcanal.

The donation follows an urgent request from the clinic’s staff, who highlighted severe transport shortages that had disrupted community outreach and emergency response operations.
Hon. Sade said the appeal from Marara AHC staff during his recent visit prompted swift action.
“Our constituency office had already planned to acquire a Land Cruiser for the health centre, but the process through our Constituency Development Fund can be slow,” he explained.
“Fortunately, through a government arrangement to reallocate vehicles used during the Pacific Islands Forum, I was able to secure one for Marara AHC.”

He added that the new vehicle is a government asset that must be used responsibly.
“The most important thing is that you now have a vehicle to perform your work efficiently as you serve our people,” Hon. Sade said.
“Please take good care of it. Our constituency office will assist with future repairs and maintenance as needed.”
Dr. Mark Tatea, Supervisory Medical Officer for Zone One (covering Burns Creek to Lambi), said the vehicle would have an immediate impact.

“We have been struggling without transport for years,” he said.
“Our outreach programs were halted, and many of our staff had to take multiple buses just to get to work. This support from Honourable Sade will transform how we deliver healthcare.”
Guadalcanal Provincial Health Director Dr. Rayboy Seleso, who attended the ceremony, praised the initiative and the government’s responsiveness.

“This vehicle will not only serve Northwest Guadalcanal but the wider population of Guadalcanal Province. It’s a crucial boost to our provincial health system,” he said.
The Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) also commended Hon. Sade for the initiative, urging other MPs to follow suit in supporting community-driven projects.
“We encourage all constituencies to work closely with their MPs to ensure development plans directly benefit people at the grassroots level,” the MRD said in a statement.

The Northwest Guadalcanal Constituency continues to prioritise investments in health, education, and infrastructure as part of its broader mission to improve living standards and promote sustainable rural development.
