Temotu Nende MP Backs John Coleridge Patteson University (JCPU) Project With $100,000 Funding Boost

Member of Parliament (MP) for Temotu Nende, Stephen Kumi, has fulfilled his commitment to support the John Coleridge Patteson University (JCPU) Project with a donation of $100,000 to the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACoM).

The pledge was made during a corporate dinner held on Friday 24th April, with the cheque officially handed over Wednesday.

Speaking briefly at the handover, Kumi said the contribution was made on behalf of the people of Temotu Nende, emphasizing that the support is for a worthy national cause.

“This is for a good cause and I will continue to support initiatives that contribute to the development of our people,” he said.

General Secretary of the Anglican Church of Melanesia Dr. Abraham Hauriasi expressed gratitude for the timely support, noting that the contribution will significantly assist the progress of the project.

“Thank you, Mr Kumi. Such support is truly encouraging and strengthens our efforts towards achieving our goal,” Dr. Hauriasi said.

He added that the gesture by a national leader is both inspiring and motivating for the Church and its partners as they work towards establishing the university.
