Trevor Manemahaga, Member of Parliament for Gao-Bugotu, has joined the ruling GREAT Coalition Government.
Manemahaga resigned from Our Party today to join the Solomon Islands Democratic Party (SIDP).
He stated in a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister that his move is intended to support political stability and serve his constituency.
Prime Minister Matthew Wale welcomed Manemahaga to the government, saying that his joining strengthens the coalition.
The move follows the swearing-in of new Cabinet ministers earlier this week.
With Manemahaga joining, the GREAT Coalition now holds 29 seats in Parliament, while the Opposition Group holds 21.
This gives the Prime Minister a larger majority ahead of a motion of no confidence expected to be tabled next Monday.
Matthew Wale became the Solomon Islands Prime Minister on May 15, 2026, following a previous leadership change.
