Prime Minister Matthew Wale has concluded a high-level visit to Washington D.C., securing discussions with major U.S. development financiers and global corporations including Google, Boeing, and Caterpillar before departing for Tokyo tomorrow.
During the visit, the Prime Minister and his delegation engaged with the U.S. Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) , where talks centered on strategic investments for Solomon Islands.
The Bina Harbour Project featured prominently, alongside opportunities in the energy and tourism sectors.
At a private sector roundtable hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Wale put Solomon Islands directly in front of representatives from Google, Caterpillar, Walmart, Boeing, United Airlines, and Organon.
He outlined both the challenges facing the country and the investment opportunities available, a pitch that drew strong interest from participating companies.
Prime Minister Wale also held discussions with Under Secretary Colby Eldridge at the Pentagon’s Department of War.
Wale described the engagements as “productive and forward-looking,” noting they represent shared opportunities that could significantly contribute to Solomon Islands’ development goals.
The Prime Minister departs for Tokyo, Japan, tomorrow at noon.
