Former Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has been tasked to take care of the nation’s economy in the Manele-government’s new ministerial appointments made today.

The new Finance Minister was among nine who took their oath before Governor General Sir David Vunagi this afternoon.

The other eight are:

1. Manasseh Maelanga – Minister for Infrastructure Development (MID)

2. Harry Kuma – Minister for Commerce, Industries, Labour & Immigration

3. Frederick Kologeto – Minister for Aviation and Communication

4. Jimson Fiau Tanangada – Minister for Police, National Security and

Correctional Services

5 Jamie Lency Vokia – Minister for Traditional Governance, Peace

and Ecclesiastical Affairs

6. Choylin Yim Douglas – Minister for Culture and Tourism

7. Tozen Leokana – Minister for Education and Human Resources

Development

8. Isikeli Vave (Jnr) – Minister for Home affairs

Over the weekend, 11 newly appointed ministers (https://indepthsolomons.com.sb/new-government-ministers-sworn-in-as-gnut-sets-agenda-for-change/) were sworn-in before governor general Vunagi.

In a statement, the Government says the three remaining ministries – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ministry of Women, Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Lands and Housing – will be filled later this week.

The position of deputy prime minister is also yet to be determined.
