The Manakwai Community High School (CHS) in North Malaita has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) through its Embassy in Honiara for a generous donation of $100,000 to support the school’s fencing project.
The funding will allow the school to procure essential materials needed to enhance its infrastructure and security.
“This support is indeed a blessing and the first of its kind for our school, marking a milestone in our efforts to improve infrastructure and provide a safer learning environment,” said School Principal Ridley Rongomea.
He added that the project will protect school resources, safeguard facilities, and create a more secure space for students to learn.
Mr Rongomea extended his thanks on behalf of the school board, staff, students, parents, and the wider Manakwai community, emphasizing that the PRC’s support strengthens educational development and promotes collaboration for sustainable growth.
He also acknowledged the continued contributions of parents, guardians, and community members who have supported the school over the years.
The Chinese Embassy in Honiara welcomed the opportunity to assist Manakwai CHS and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting education across Solomon Islands, contributing to the safety and well-being of students and teachers alike.
Mr Rongomea said the school looks forward to working closely with the Manakwai community, the PRC, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of the fencing project.
