A first-time voter in Central Kwara’ae Constituency in Malaita says he was excited and happy to see the candidate he voted for came out the winner.

Businessman Ricky Fuoo claimed the seat with the backing of 5,208 registered voters in the constituency to unseat OUR Party candidate Jackson Fiulau, who held the seat for the last three terms.

“I am so happy that Ricky came out the winner,” Gabriel Mason told In-depth Solomons in Auki after the results came out on Saturday.

“I was one of those who voted for him because I believe in his leadership and what his party stands for,” the form-three student at Laugwata Community High School, said.

Fuoo entered the race as a United Party candidate.

“I am also looking forward to seeing new developments in the Central Kwara’ae, as promised by Fuoo, during campaign time,” Mason said.

Other supporters also insist that with Fuoo now their new MP, they are looking forward to benefit from his plans for the constituency.

“Improved education, improved health services, and youth employment (seasonal work) are some of the areas that the new MP is looking to address.

“We can’t wait to benefit more from the plans which our new MP is going to implement, in the next four years,” they said.

Meanwhile, Fuoo dedicated his victory to God, and thanked his supporters for standing behind him.

“Grateful beyond words for this incredible victory!

“With deepest humility, I thank the Almighty God for His unwavering grace, love, and mercy that guided us through this journey.

“To my cherished supporters and voters, especially the women, elderly, and people with disabilities, your unwavering belief in me fuels my commitment to serve you all tirelessly,” he said.

The newly elected MP also thanked his predecessor Jackson Fiulaua for his leadership over the last 12 years and also congratulated all the other candidates for their efforts.
