The Solomon Islands is mourning the loss of former Central Kwara’ae Member of Parliament, Jackson Fiulaua, who passed away on Sunday, 14 September 2025.
Jackson Fiulaua was born on October 13, 1957 in Raiako, Malaita and was 67-years old at the time of his passing.
The Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Patteson John Oti, along with Members and staff of the National Parliament, extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the former MP.
In an official message today, national parliament staff expressed their “deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences” to Mrs. Mary Fiulaua, their children, and extended family in Honiara and Okwala Village, Central Kwara’ae, Malaita Province.
After completing primary school, Fiulaua began his career as a builder. Over time, he became a successful entrepreneur, running one of the leading local construction companies in the Solomon Islands.
Fiulaua entered politics in the August 2010 general election, winning the Central Kwara’ae seat as an independent candidate, unseating incumbent deputy Prime Minister Fred Fono, who had held the seat for twelve years.
Since then, he served as a dedicated representative of the Central Kwara’ae constituency in the Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Parliaments, holding office from 2010 to 2024.
In the ninth parliament, he was the Minister for Infrastructure Development, under Prime Minister Danny Philip.
He once held the Chairmanship position of the DBSI Sub-Committee and Deputy Chairman of Caucus, under the Manasseh Sogavare-led Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA).
The Speaker’s message also acknowledged the late Fiulaua’s role as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, noting the deep loss felt by his family and the wider community.
“May our good Lord, by His grace, comfort you all at this time of bereavement and may his soul rest eternally in peace with our Heavenly Father,” the message concluded.
