The Tadai House of Chiefs of Guadalcanal, representing the indigenous landowners of the capital Honiara, has issued a formal appeal to all 50 Members of Parliament to immediately resolve the current political impasse.

In a statement issued today, General Secretary of Tandai House of Chiefs, Chief Daniel Donua warned that the ongoing state of “assumptions and doubts” is placing an undue burden on the citizens of the Solomon Islands.

As the nation grapples with a minority government crisis and competing claims for parliamentary control, Chief Donua emphasized that the people of Tadai are the first to feel the impact of any instability in Honiara.

“The Tadai people are frontliners,” the statement read.

“When Honiara is affected or the nation is in crisis, we are the first to be impacted. We do not want to be in a state of confusion. We elected you to take up your leadership roles and do the right thing for your constituents and the nation as a whole.”

The House of Chiefs reminded the nation’s leaders that their primary mandate is the protection of the country’s resources, the dreams of its people, and the security of future generations.

The statement highlighted that leadership is a responsibility, not a privilege, and must be exercised with the national interest at the forefront.

“I ask you all 50 MPs and leaders of the nation that we elected you there to take up your leadership roles and do the right thing for your constituents and the nation as a whole.

“Your leadership comes with responsibility and we ask you to make the right decision that serves the interest of the nation to protect our people, resources and the future of this nation.

“Make better decisions for building our nation,” Chief Donua stated.
