Lonely Planet Names Solomon Islands In ‘Top 25 Best In Travel For 2026’ Listing

Internationally-renowned travel guide publisher, Lonely Planet has named the Solomon Islands as one of top 25 ‘Best places to visit in 2026’.

Solomon Islands is the only South Pacific nation named in the prestigious listing which includes destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America.

The result can be directly attributed to Lonely Planet Destination Editor – Oceania, Jessica Lockhart who visited the Solomon Islands last November as part of Tourism Solomons’ International Media Visitation Program.

Ms Lockhart’s itinerary in the Solomon Islands included hiking in Kolombangara and snorkelling at Njari Island, a Savo island volcano walk and cultural activities and a Honiara-based program incorporating visits to several WWII sites and monuments.

Ms Lockhart said that Lonely Planet’s ‘Best in Travel’ is about meaningful travel experiences that cannot be replicated anywhere else.

“And I can say firsthand that visiting the Solomon Islands is a truly transformative experience,” she said.

“It’s emerging surf scene, unparalleled biodiversity and rich cultural experiences are surprisingly easy to access with direct flights from Brisbane, making this a country worth visiting in 2026.”
