Police Power on Display

PM hails RSIPF’s readiness ahead of Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in Honiara

Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele has praised the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) for its display of strength, professionalism, and readiness as the country prepares to host the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders Meeting September this year.

Speaking at the RSIPF’s Capacity Display event in Honiara today, Manele said the demonstration marks a significant milestone in the nation’s preparations, showcasing the operational capabilities of the police force in ensuring national and regional security.

“This moment is a testament to the strength, discipline, and professionalism of our police force,” Manele said.

“It is also the result of years of capacity development, training, and partnership with our development allies,” he added.

The RSIPF showcased its preparedness across a range of operational areas including public order response, VIP protection, traffic control, intelligence coordination, and crisis management.

Manele commended the Police Commissioner and the entire RSIPF team for their commitment and diligence in preparing for the high-level regional meeting.

“Hosting the Pacific Islands Forum is not just an administrative task—it is a statement of trust and confidence in Solomon Islands’ capability to lead, secure, and host with honour,” the prime minister said.

“It is also an opportunity for us to show the unity, maturity, and resilience of our institutions.”

He acknowledged the critical support of international partners, particularly Australia, New Zealand, China, and others, for their ongoing contributions to strengthening the RSIPF through training, infrastructure, and equipment.

While applauding the dedication of the men and women in uniform, the Prime Minister also called on citizens to support the RSIPF and contribute to the nation’s effort in successfully hosting the Forum.

“Security is a shared responsibility,” he said.

“Let us demonstrate that Solomon Islands is not only ready, but capable of leading and rising to every challenge.”

The Forum Leaders Meeting is expected to draw regional leaders and dignitaries to Honiara, with security and coordination playing a central role in its successful delivery.
