Two Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers are travelling to the United Kingdom to take part in an international police leadership programme aimed at strengthening leadership and professional development.
Director of Close Personal Protection Aipo Kabwere and Supervising Provincial Police Commander for Western Province Wilken Miriki left today (Thursday 24th) ,and will participate in the month-long International Leadership Programme (ILP), delivered by the UK College of Policing.
The programme is part of the UK-supported Pacific Policing Leadership Programme (PPLP), which provides leadership training and professional development opportunities for police officers across the Pacific.
The ILP focuses on areas including ethical leadership, legitimacy, consent, human rights and effective policing.
With the latest participants, eight RSIPF officers have now taken part in the programme.
The PPLP has reached almost 400 police officers across the Pacific since its inception.
Further leadership development activities, including training for emerging and mid-level police leaders, are also planned in Honiara later this year.
Acting British High Commissioner Cameron Millar said the programme provides Pacific police leaders with opportunities to strengthen their leadership capabilities and develop their understanding of principles underpinning effective policing.
The UK and Solomon Islands continue to cooperate on police development, with the programme forming part of wider efforts to support professional and accountable policing in the region.
