Solomon Islands soccer player Javin Wae debuted as Adelaide Cobras new defender alongside countryman William Komasi in the Football South Australia (FSA) State League One over the weekend.

Wae had been a player for Campbelltown City in FSA National Premier League (NPL) level since the start of 2025.

He had made 12 appearances and scored one goal for Campbelltown in the FSA NPL. He also played once for Campbelltown Reserves in the season.

Wae’s final appearance for the club came mid-June where he was an unused substitute in a Round 14 defeat to Playford City.

His first appearance for his new club was in Round 15 of the FSA State League One, where he scored the only goal for Adelaide Cobra Reserves in their 3-1 defeat against West Adelaide Reserves.

Last Saturday in a Round 16 fixture, Wae played alongside Komasi as he made his senior team debut against league leaders Sturt Lions.

Donning the number five jersey, his team played a hard-fought match against the dominant Lions.

Wae, Komasi and their Cobras side managed to hold a 2-2 draw against Lions until the 73rd minute, when the Lions put one goal up to make it 3-2 until the final whistle.

Cobras remained ninth on the FSA State League One table, three points ahead of Micah Lea’alafa’s Vipers FC.

Vipers saw a 3-1 defeat in their Round 16 match against South Adelaide on Saturday where Lea’alafa scored the only goal for his club in the eighth minute.

Despite his strong start by scoring a goal, he was taken off the match due to an injury in the 23rd minute.

His lack of presence was a sudden blow to Vipers FC as they went on to concede three goals in the second half. Vipers remain 10th in the FSA State League One table.

Furthermore, Rovu Boyers and his club West Adelaide also experienced a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Salisbury United in their Round 16 match on Saturday.

The West Adelaide Hellas conceded two goals, one in the 15th minute and another in the 81st minute. It was West Adelaide’s first loss in their last five games.

They sit in second place on the FSA State League One table and will face league leaders, Sturt Lions in the next round.

In the FSA NPL, Junior David came off the bench in the second half to make an appearance for Croydon FC in their 4-1 Round 16 win over Para Hill Knights.

Croydon remains second on the FSA NPL table, nine points behind league leaders, Metro Stars.

Wae’s recent move to Cobras makes David the only Solomon Islander currently playing in the FSA NPL level.
